MICHAEL
FALCONER (JAMES FLEET)
Charismatic
"Maestro" of the Falconer Ensemble. Once brilliant enfant
terrible whose genius is fading. And he knows it. But beneath his
artfully bohemian good looks (think Bernstein, Von Karajan) and
alluring charm, he's an autocrat who drives his orchestra with a rod
of iron. He's had to fight to get where he is and he's not going to
give it up easily. "Music is my reality. Nothing else matters".
DAN
FALCONER (JOSEPH PROWEN)
Michael's son
and aspiring violinist. Desperate to earn his father's approval and
respect as a musician in his own right.
HAMISH
RAFFERTY (ROBERT DAWS)
Michael's
brother in law. A farmer turned craft spirit maker. Seemingly mild
mannered. Dislikes confrontation. His confidence damaged by near
bankruptcy, he'll never let that happen again. Whatever it takes.
JANEY
RAFFERTY (CAROLINE LANGRISHE)
Peacemaker
between her husband Hamish and brother Michael. She is determined to
make the festival and her gin business a success.
CANDICE
RAFFERTY (ROSIE HOLDEN)
Talented
violinist. Sweet natured, naive, easily led. In love with Jacob.
JACOB
WHEELER (CALLUM BLAKE)
Prodigiously
brilliant violinist and composer. Confident, ruthless manipulator
with an eye on the main chance.
NATALIE
WHEELER (FLORA SPENCER-LONGHURST)
On the surface
an attractive, confident violinist who people are drawn to. But her
damaged past has left her vulnerable.
AUDREY
GLENHILL (MAGGIE O'NEILL)
Proprietor of
the Thassingham Arms and passionate about the original ideals of the
Festival. Self reliant, slow to trust, hardened by resentment towards
the new regime.
IVO
BAXTER (COLIN MICHAEL CARMICHAEL)
Oddball,
seemingly harmless, benign classical music nerd who runs the
Thassingham Music Shop and repair workshop. A passionate Vlogger who
hero worships Michael Falconer.
VERNON
DE HARTHOG (SIMON CALLOW)
Veteran viola
player and heavy drinker. Irreverent, louche, big personality who
doesn't respond well to authority. Adores Audrey. His longtime lover
during the Festival Season.
WARWICK
SOWANDE (CYRIL NRI)
Single parent.
Father of Zak. Hard working, private man always chasing his tail to
make ends meet. Determined to help his son Zak succeed and have a
better life than his. Excited by his improved prospects working at
the Distillery.
ZAK
SOWANDE (MATTHEW JACOBS-MORGAN)
A talented
pianist torn between loyalty to his Dad and finding his own way.
